Yvette Johnson Hagins, Managing Partner and Principal Consultant, relocated from Savannah, Ga. in 2003 to lead Whitefoord, Inc. in Atlanta after a tragic plane crash in Africa, which claimed the life of the organization's founder, Dr. George W. Brumley, and 11 family members. Until her retirement in October of 2019, she provided invaluable oversight and direction in fulfilling the organization's mission to engage, serve, and unite the community by providing accessible and high-quality health and education services. During her tenure, Yvette established comprehensive primary health care services and early childhood education programs in Atlanta Public Schools. Additionally, she positioned the organization's school-based health care centers as a "model" for rural and urban communities across Georgia.
In 2010, she opened the organization's first community-based federally qualified health center. To ensure that children would be healthy and prepared for success in school, Ms. Johnson-Hagins successfully led a public/private collaborative partnership that established a high-quality early learning academy with a continuum of integrated services for under-served families in southeast Atlanta. Before joining Whitefoord, Inc., she served as the Executive Director of Greenbriar Children's Center, Inc. in Savannah, Georgia, for 14 years. During this tenure, she raised millions of dollars through grant writing and fundraising, administered a continuum of programs and services for homeless, abused, and neglected children and families.
Community service has always been a key cornerstone of her life. Yvette has held numerous volunteer leadership roles with organizations including Leadership Savannah, where she served as the organization's first African American President, Chatham/Savannah Youth Futures Authority, Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, the Savannah/ Hilton Head Airport Commission ( which named a street in her honor- Yvette Johnson Hagins Dr.), the Junior League Advisory Boards of Savannah and Atlanta, the Georgia Primary Health Care Board of Directors, Visiting Nurses/Hospice Atlanta Board, and the Emory University Board of Visitors. She is also a graduate of Leadership Atlanta and Leadership DeKalb.
"[She] was extremely well-prepared and had very relevant leadership experience in which to review our work and activities. She understood our work and was able to challenge some of our assumptions about our own progress."
"I greatly appreciated your SWOT Analysis and stakeholder interviews presentation; they were critical to our homeless services improvement."
